Navigation tree

'Tables' offers a selection of the most important Eurostat data in a user-friendly way. All data are presented in simple two- or three-dimensional tables.

'Database' contains the full range of public data available at Eurostat. They are presented in multi-dimensional tables with multiple selection features and export formats.

Both branches are organised according to nine statistical themes. "Tables on EU policy" presents a selection of data organised according to specific EU policies.

Legend

Logo TGM (tables, graphs and maps) is only designed for tables with 2 or 3 dimensions (as available in the 'Tables' of the navigation tree). This browser gives access to predefined tables in a user-friendly way via tables, graphs or maps. It includes a short description with all the information regarding an easy understanding of the variables presented in a table.
Logo Data explorer is an interface designed for the reading of multi-dimensional tables ('Database' in the navigation tree). It offers a direct access to data, metadata and several export formats. The selection of cells is limited up to a maximum of 300 000.

Logo Dataset compression: for downloading complete datasets in tabular separate value format (tsv).
Logo COMEXT database includes all external trade data hosted in the COMEXT database.
Logo Metadata: explanatory texts documenting statistical data and providing summary information useful for assessing data quality and the statistical production process in general.
Logo The arrow icon gives the path in the navigation tree to a dataset or a table when using the search of the navigation tree.

Dictionaries

Complete code lists can be found in bulk download/code lists.

Flags and special value used in Eurostat's online database

Flags are codes added to the data and defining a specific characteristic:

b = break in series
c = confidential
e = estimated
f = forecast
i = see metadata
n = not significant
p = provisional
r = revised
s = Eurostat estimate
u = unreliable
z = not applicable (incl. real zero)

The flags 'c', 'n' and 'z' are meaningful only when combined with the special value ':' = not available (': c', ': n', ': z').

A special value is a code that replaces the real data. Only one special value is used:

: = not available

The previously used special value '-' = not applicable (incl. real zero) is no longer used in the online database; it has been replaced by the flag 'z'.

Other conventions

0 = less than half the final digit shown and greater than real zero
