Results of the EU Labour Force Survey (EU LFS) are disseminated in the following categories:
LFS main indicators
This provides main results related to the labour market. 'Main indicators' are based on the results of the EU LFS but the data are adjusted in various ways according to the specificities of an indicator. In general, the adjusted series are the result of corrections of main breaks in series, estimation of missing values and reconciliations of the LFS data with other sources, mainly National Accounts and national statistics on monthly unemployment.
LFS – detailed quarterly survey results & LFS – detailed annual survey results
These series include the detailed results from the EU LFS. No adjustments or corrections are applied.
From 2005 on, with few exceptions, the annual results present annual averages of quarterly data. Up until 2005, the annual results are based on 'spring data', due to the limited availability of quarterly data. 'Spring data' refers to data of the 2nd quarter for most countries (4th quarter for France and Austria).
LFS specific topics
Data shown here refers to specific results which are not based on the same reference periods or sample as those available in the quarterly or annual domain. Up-dates are usually less frequent than for the quarterly and annual domains. Specific topics currently covered are LFS statistics for households and LFS data by region.
LFS ad-hoc modules
Since 1999 an inherent part of the EU LFS are the so called 'ad-hoc modules'. Council Regulation No 577/98 specifies that a further set of variables may be added to supplement the information from the core questionnaire of the LFS. This section currently presents results for the 2004 ad-hoc module 'Work organisation and working time arrangements', the 2005 ad-hoc module 'Reconciliation between work and family life' and the 2006 ad-hoc module 'Transition from work into retirement'.
Results for the modules for years 1999 'Accidents at work and occupational diseases', 2000 'Transition from school to working life', 2002 'Employment of disabled people' and 2003 'Lifelong learning' are available in other thematic sections of Eurostat's online database.
The tables for the ad-hoc module for the year 2001 'Length and patterns of working time' are currently in preparation.
For all EU LFS results, please take note of the following remarks on the comparability of results, breaks in series and coherence with other statistics.
