Statistics objectives
The Andean Community regional Strategy Paper 2007-2013 provides €50 million to support the Regional Indicative Programme (RIP) in 3 areas:
1. Regional economic integration
2. Social and economic cohesion.
3. The fight against illicit drugs
Statistics is considered a cross-cutting in these three areas.
EC partnership with the Andean Community of Nations

The Andean Community of Nations was established in 1969 (originally called "Acuerdo de Cartagena" its name changed later to "Andean Pact" and still later to its current name, given in 1997.
Its aims are, among others, to:
- Promote balanced and harmonious development through integration, economic and social cooperation,
- Establish an Andean Common Market.
The present members are: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, after Venezuela left the CAN in May 2006.
