A Memorandum of Understanding between the Inter American Development Bank (IADB) and the European Commission was signed in 2007 with the aim of contributing to improved economic and social development of the Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Shared priorities for collaboration
The Commission and the Bank have agreed to concentrate their collaboration in the following areas of shared priority:
- Social cohesion and poverty reduction
- Regional integration and trade development
- Renewable energies and energy efficiency
- Climate change
- Statistics
Statistics
- Encouraging harmonisation of statistical methodologies and enhancing data comparability
- Promoting the exchange of data, metadata, methodologies and other statistical tools via compatible information systems
- Exchanging experiences and cross-fertilisation in ongoing and future statistical cooperation activities at regional level
- Reinforcing the development of indicators needed to support the other focal areas of interest
- Promoting the capacities of public statistical institutions
In the context of this MoU, Eurostat will engage in a statistical dialog with the IADB in order to agree on initiatives in the field of statistics.
