Designing focused websites for students
Under the umbrella of the Sponsorship group of Comunication the following guidelines have been produced. They are based on best practices in the countries which are already experienced in this area, and on the results of a survey of National Statistical Institutes.
The objectives of such focused websites are:
- to satisfy the need for modern teaching about statistics to children;
- to enhance the understanding of national and European statistics and also the possibility of exploiting statistical information in ways which correspond to the age and the knowledge level of young people, in an appropriate language, with suggestive examples and case studies;
- to make statistical resources more readily understandable and available for teachers and pupils;
- to design a tool that could increase the interest of children in basic statistical concepts;
- to teach young people how to apply statistics in their everyday life.
