Generic Statistical Information Model – International workshop at the Slovenian Statistical Office
The first international workshop on Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM) was held between 20 February and 2 March 2012 at Slovenian Statistical Office. The workshop was attended by participants from Australia, Canada, Norway, Sweden, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Slovenia and Eurostat.

A High-Level Group for Strategic Developments in Business Architecture in Statistics (HLG-BAS) operates within the United Nations with the mission to coordinate the development of statistical business architecture in countries of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES). The HLG-BAS – a member of which is SORS’s Director-General Irena Križman – promotes the sharing of information about business architecture in statistics and strives for progress in this area in CES countries.
The HLG-BAS has thus produced an initiative to operationalize the concept of the Generic Statistical Information Model. The first international workshop on this subject – "Generic Statistical Information Model", GSIM Sprint 1 – is being hosted by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia.
The Generic Statistical Information Model will determine information necessary for managing and implementing statistical processes and related results. At the same time it will enable international interoperability and standardisation of statistical information systems. The model will enable a more streamlined approach to the development of general and integrated statistical information systems. The innovative approach in implementing the workshop promises to international statistical experts results for the quickest possible solution of the common challenge of all national statistical institutions.
