The European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) will meet today and tomorrow for its 13th meeting, at Eurostat.
The opening of the meeting will be attended by Commissioner Ĺ emeta who will have an exchange of views with the ESSC members on a number of topics which are currently discussed in the European Statistical System.
On Wednesday afternoon, Eurostat will present the draft Annual Statistical Work Programme 2013 and a list of proposals for negative priorities for 2013. The ESSC is also invited to discuss the proposed approach on "Data validation and quality assurance: towards vertical integration of EU statistics".
Discussions on Thursday morning will start with the outcome of the strategic seminar on Intrastat of 23 May, followed by a discussion on the new streamlined organisational structure for the ESS and cooperation between the ESS and the European System of Central Banks.
ESSC members will also have the opportunity to discuss the draft Commission Regulation as regards access to confidential data for scientific purposes and what the first ESS annual report could look like.
