16th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC)

The 16th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) will be held in Luxembourg on 7 February 2013.
The Committee is going to vote on a draft Commission Regulation regarding the access to confidential data for scientific purposes. In connection with this item, the members of the Committee are going to be asked their opinion on the guidelines for the assessment of research entities, research proposals and access facilities.
In addition, the ESSC will be also giving its opinion on the topic of common ESS conditions for access and re-use of data, on a draft proposal for a regulation on the organisation of a labour force survey, as well as on a proposal regarding changes to the Regulation on European environmental economic accounts. The draft Regulation on the Macroeconomic Imbalances Procedure (MIP) is another item on which the Committee is going to issue an opinion.
Apart from the comitology items and the items for opinion, the ESSC will be presented with a number of reports. These include the report of the Business Statistics Directors Group (BSDG) on the seminar held on the 5th and 6th of December 2012, a report from the Irish Presidency as well as the presentation of the UN Statistical Commission Draft Agenda.
Furthermore, during the 16th ESSC meeting the members will be discussing the strategy for statistical cooperation between the ESS and the enlargement and ENP countries, as well as with the rest of the world.
