As against the previous month, in August 2014 the retail turnover volume (excluding the trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased as gross series by 0.1% and decreased as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality by 0.6%.
Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, in August 2014 both the arrivals and the overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation increased by 8.2 % and by 5.5 %, respectively.

In August2014, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was estimated at7.1%, unchanged as compared with the previous month.
In August 2014, 3618 construction permits for residential buildings were released,a 5.0% decrease compared to July 2014 and a 5.6% drop compared to August 2013.
According to September 2014 opinions of the companies’ managers, for September – November 2014 period, compared to those three previous months, moderate growth trend of activity in manufacturing and services, relative stability in retail sector
and moderate decrease in construction is forecast, according to the balance indicator.
In 2013, the volume of exploited wood by economic operators with logging activity was by 1.2% lower than in 2012

ncreases in the volume of water distributed as compared to 2012 were recorded for all categories of consumers. The highest increase, of approximately 40%, was reported for industry.

The number of employees at the end of 2013 was 4801.1 thousand persons (with 23.9 thousand persons more compared to
the end of the previous year) and the average number of employees was 4443.6 thousand persons (with 0.7 thousand
persons more compared to year 2012).
In the second quarter of 2014, the employment rate for working
age population (15-64 years) was 61.2%.
