[STATmagazin] Inflation: The same rate for everyone?
Since February this year, the inflation rate has been over two percent each month. As was the case in earlier years, rising prices are accompanied by an increasing fear that low-income households suffer more under the inflation than do the better off. Especially when prices of food and household energy increase above average, it seems obvious to assume that poorer households have to bear a greater burden. This is because, generally, the lower a household?s earnings, the higher the income share it has to spend on basic needs such as food and housing.
