  Size of agricultural holdings keeps increasing
 
On results of Farm Structure Survey 2013

In 2013 the average size of agricultural holdings was 37.8ha, which is 9.6% more than in 2010, when this indicator was 34.5 ha. Utilised agricultural area on average per holding has increased by 7.0%.

Provisional results of Farm Structure Survey 2013 show that the average size of agricultural holdings in 2013 was 37.8 ha, which is 9.6% more than in 2010, when this indicator was 34.5 ha. The utilised agricultural area (hereinafter - AA) on average per holding increased by 7.0% (from 21.5 ha in 2010 to 23.0 ha in 2013). The largest agricultural holdings were situated in Zemgale, where utilised AA per holding on average amounted to 29.9 ha.

General government budget deficit at the end of 2013 was 199.6 mln euro or 0.9% of GDP and general government consolidated gross debt – 8 875.9 mln euro or 38.2% of GDP

General government budget deficit at the end of 2013 comprised EUR 199.6 million or 0.9 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and the general government consolidated gross debt comprised EUR 8875.9 million or 38.2 % of the GDP, according to the results of the October 2014 general government budget deficit and debt notification[1] compiled by Central Statistical Bureau (CSB), which has been made in line with the methodology of European System of Accounts (ESA 2010).

  Level of producer prices in September rose by 0.1%

Compared to August, level of producer prices in Latvian industry in September 2014 rose by 0.1%. Compared to September of the previous year, level of producer prices in industry grew by 0.3%.

Compared to August, level of producer prices in Latvian industry in September 2014 rose by 0.1%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 0.2%, whereas of exported products – remained the same. Over the month producer price changes were mostly affected by price growth in electricity, steam and air conditioning supply.

  Lower mortality rates observed during the first nine months of this year

During the first nine months of 2014 mortality decline was observed in Latvia. During this period of time 21 155 deaths were registered in the country, which is 387 fewer than in the first nine months of 2013.

Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that 21 155 deaths were registered in the country, which is 387 fewer than in the first nine months of 2013. However, the number of deaths increased in September. 2 321 people deceased last month, which is 129 more than in September 2013.

  In August structure of food products in exports to Russia has changed

In August 2014 compared to the previous month exports value of goods at current prices decreased by 4.4%, and imports value of goods – by 6.3%.

Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau show that in August 2014 compared to the previous month exports value of goods at current prices decreased by 4.4%, and imports value of goods by 6.3%. In August Latvia exported goods in amount of 811.2 mln euros, but imported - in amount of 988.2 mln euros. Foreign trade balance slightly improved as exports in total foreign trade value increased to 45.1% (in July 2014 – 44.6%).

Compared to July manufacturing turnover in August according to seasonally adjusted data (at current prices) declined by 2.5%, of which  decrease of 2.5% both in domestic market and export (decline in Eurozone of 4.2%, while in Non-eurozone an increase of 2.0%).

  During the year the average level of consumer prices increased by 1.0%

Compared to September 2013 the average consumer price level in September 2014 rose by 1.0%. Prices of goods grew by 0.2%, and prices of services - by 3.4%.

According to the latest data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB), compared to September 20131 the average consumer price level in September 2014, rose by 1.0%. Prices of goods grew by 0.2%, and prices of services increased by 3.4%. Compared to the previous 12 months, the average consumer price level over the last 12 months2 increased by 0.4%.

Compared to July industrial production volume in August (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) declined by 0.2%; of which in mining and quarrying - a drop of 1.1%, in manufacturing - a growth of 0.1%, whereas in electricity and gas supply industrial production remained at the level of previous year.

Compared to July, the total retail trade turnover in August 2014 dropped by 0.2%. Retail trade in food products reduced by 0.9%, whereas of non-food products - rose by 0.3%.

Data of Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to July, the total retail trade turnoverin August 2014 dropped by 0.2%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Retail trade in food products reduced by 0.9%, whereas of non-food products - rose by 0.3%.

Compared to July, the total retail trade turnover at current prices, not taking into account seasonality, in August fell by 0.1%.

Central Statistical Bureau has carried out recalculation of annual and quarterly periodicity from 1995. The results obtained prove negative impact of emigration of Latvian population on the estimates of state economics during the last years established in Population and Housing Census 2011.
