Total waste generated by economic activities,  in tonnes and kg per person, 2004, 2006 and 2008  (Data Explorer)

You find more pre-defined tables on the generation of waste by activities and by waste categories under menue item 'Main tables'

Background

The reporting of waste from both the commercial and industrial sectors is varied in its implementation across Member States. This is, in part, due to the overlap in classification of commercial and municipal wastes. Reporting of industrial wastes is covered under the Waste Statistics Regulation, however, good quality time series data is still lacking.

Targets

There are no specific targets for commercial and industrial wastes, however, with the mixed definition of municipal waste, relevant diversion targets and recycling targets may be applicable to a certain proportion of commercial waste (See municipal waste page).
