The Community survey on ICT usage and e-commerce in enterprises collects data on the use of information and communication technology, the internet, e-government, e-business and e-commerce in enterprises.

The main characteristics of this annual survey, which has been conducted in the years since 2002, are:

  • reference period: January of the reference year for most variables, the year before for e-government or e-commerce variables;
  • survey periods: from 2002 until now;
  • scope: enterprises with 10 or more persons employed in chosen activities (see below);
  • size class breakdowns:
    • small enterprises: 10–49 persons employed;
    • medium-sized enterprises: 50–249 persons employed;
    • large enterprises: 250 or more persons employed.
  • activity coverage starting from 2009: enterprises classified in the NACE Rev.2 sections and groups:
    • C (manufacturing);
    • D,E (electricity, gas and steam, water supply, sewerage and waste management);
    • F (construction);
    • G (wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles);
    • H (transportation and storage);
    • I (accommodation and food service activities);
    • J (information and communication);
    • L (real estate activities);
    • Division 69-74 (professional, scientific and technical activities);
    • N (administrative and support activities);
    • S95.1 (repair of computers) - since 2010;
    • K64.19+64.92+65.1+65.2+66.12+66.19 (financial and insurance activities) – optional since 2011.
  • activity coverage up to 2009: enterprises classified in the NACE Rev.1.1 sections and groups:
    • D (manufacturing);
    • F (construction);
    • G (distributive trade);
    • 55.1 and 55.2 of section H (hotels and accommodation);
    • I (transport, storage and communication);
    • K (real estate, renting and business activities);
    • 92.1 and 92.2 of section O (motion picture, video, radio and television activities).
