In the context of the Labour force survey (LFS), an employed person is a person aged 15 and over (or 16 and over in Iceland and Norway) who during the reference week performed work - even if just for one hour a week - for pay, profit or family gain.
Alternatively, the person was not at work, but had a job or business from which he or she was temporarily absent due to illness, holiday, industrial dispute or education and training.
This definition follows guidelines of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
