From Statistics Explained
An employee is a person who has a contract to carry out work for an employer and receives compensation in the form of wages, salaries, fees, gratuities, piecework pay or remuneration in kind.
More detailed and specific definitions are used in different statistical domains:
- employee in Labour force survey (LFS) (surveyed from households);
- employee in structural business statistics (SBS) (surveyed from enterprises on the basis of Regulation 58/97 on structural business statistics of December 1996).
